Rachele studied Violin Pedagogy for 4 years with acclaimed teacher & author, Lois Shepheard, becoming Lois’s assistant teacher for 3 years. As a part of her training with Lois, she had periodic Alexander Technique training with Vivien Mackie and masterclasses with many prestigious teachers including Christopher Kimber, Marjory Aber, Anastasia Jempelis and Dr Shinichi Suzuki.
She established her own teaching studio in Melbourne, which she ran this studio for 10 years before relocating to Sydney and soon after, to the beautiful Blue Mountains. Since 2015 she has run the strings program at Blue Mountains Steiner School.
Alongside her teaching career, Rachele is also a professional violinist. For the last decade she has specialised in combining classical violin with other performance disciplines (circus, fire arts, physical theatre). Her multi-award winning show Strings on Fire, has performed 3 world tours, and regularly performs for events in Australasia. Before performing in Strings on Fire, Rachele worked in a wide variety of projects from Classical string quartets & ensembles to international stage shows, a Jazz/Rock duo and has recently worked in a Jazz band. She is also a solo artist in her own right, performing Classical Crossover, Lounge style improvisation and Jazz/Rock for prestigious events.
Rachele uses a wholistic approach to music education, incorporating her background in performance, in physical awareness including yoga & circus, and music education philosophies including Suzuki Method and Alexander Technique. She draws on a wide variety of repertoire to cater to students individual needs, but uses the Suzuki & Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) repertoire and technical exercises as the basis.
Her other interests include visual art (painting, digital art, multimedia), music composition, music & film production.
Rachele lives and teaches in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. She is an accredited violin teacher with the Music Teacher’s Association (NSW).
